A message given on February 15, 2009 during our Ambassadors’ Meeting.

Text: 1 Corinthians 15:58
Title:
Always Abounding in the Work of the Lord
Introduction: We have been facing battles this past month. We can see how the wicked one is taking his attacks to a whole new level. We understand that new level, would mean new devils.

It’s not time to quit, to get discouraged, it’s time to get on our knees some more.

In the my opinion, the greatest single chapter in all the Word of God.

The apostle, in this chapter, recommends the Gospel, and gives a summary of it, proves the resurrection of Christ, and by various arguments establishes the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead, and answers objections made unto it. He also sets forth the glory there will be upon the bodies of risen saints, and the change that will be made on living ones; and concludes with an exhortation to perseverance in faith and holiness.

I. Our Comfort as Believers

A. Victory has been Won

1. Through the gospel – v1-4

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

2. Because of His Resurrection. V12-19

John 14:19
because I live, ye shall live also.

Because He lives, We can face tomorrow!

3. Over this earthly body – v35-50
Note –
We are going to be changed.v36,51-53;  2 Cor. 5:1

4. Over death – Jesus Christ has won it. V54-57

There will be 2 shouts at the rapture,
The dead will shout “O grave, where is thy victory?”
You’ve kept me for a long time, I’m coming out.
The raptured saints will shout “O death, where is thy sting”

There is coming a day my friend, when no heartaches shall come.
A day will come when tears will be outlawed;

And sorrow expelled; and pain crucified;
and night executed; where sin will expire;
and sickness will become sick;
and heartbreak will be broken;
and loneliness will become lonely;
and sadness will becomes sad;
and bereavement will become bereaved;
and poverty will become impoverished;
AND DEATH WOULD DIE!

Hang in there friend, Don’t quit!
We are on the winning side!
Keep abounding in the work of the Lord!

B. Through Christ – v57

Phil. 4:13
13   I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

John 15:5
5
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Stay close to your Guide; Depend upon Him. May we always find ourselves in total dependence upon our God.

II. Our Challenge as Believers – v58

Note – “Be” – not “do”… this trait becomes who you are. Not just something that you do occasionally.

A. Be Steadfast –

Be ye steadfast – be settled; confide in the truth of this doctrine of the resurrection, and every thing that pertains to it, as confidently as a man sits down on a Seat, which he knows to be solid, firm, and safe; and on which he has often sat.

Proverbs 24:21
My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

You don’t add new stuff; you just grow on what you already have.

2 Thess. 2:15

B. Unmovable – “unshaken”; fixed!
We all come to a time in our lives when we are shaken it is then we must cling to the Rock of Ages for our Refuge.

Psalm 61:2
From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Psalm 10:6
He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.

C. Always Abounding – To overflow; To exceed the status quo.

Quote – goals are planned conflict with the status quo.

He who aims at nothing, hits it everytime.

Matt. 5:41 – “Going the Extra Mile”

III. Our Consolation – “labour not in vain”

A. Our Work is never wasted – Isaiah 55:11

B. Our Work will be rewarded – Heb. 6:10

Conclusion:
May we always abound in the work of the Lord by His Grace.
