Happy New Year!

As we look back and reflect upon the year 2008, we realize how time quickly passed by. We also can’t help but think how God has wonderfully blessed and sustained us through this past year. Personally, this year was filled with blessings, victories and opportunities. But along these, God in His sovereignty has allowed burdens, challenges and trials to be interwoven into these same positive things. Often times, that’s how God works in “balancing” you out, giving you grace just in the nick of time.

He will humble you without degrading you and at the same time exalt you without inflating you. He wants you totally focused upon Him and not just on the blessings, focusing upon His “Presence” and not just on His “Presents”. One thing was certain as we look back at the “average” of the year 2008, we can say “All was well, God was always in control”

As we face the dawning of a new year, we may not know what tomorrow holds but we are rest-assured that the One who holds tomorrow will stand by us and will never leave us in times of hardship.

king_james_bible7Let me challenge you to enter this new year spending much time in prayer and seeking the face of God as to what He desires for you to accomplish.”…for without Him, we can do nothing.” All our best laid plans, agendas, and expectations would utterly fail without the fresh anointing of God upon our lives. Anything done in our own strength will fail miserably or will succeed even more miserably. May we set aside some time this week and allow the Lord to reevaluate our hearts by His Holy Spirit and by His Word allowing Him to set our priorities straight.

May this year be a year of increased Bible time, Prayer Time, Soul Winning Time, and other aspects of our service for the Lord. Doing all of these not to please a certain person, a group or a fellowship but to please the Lord Jesus Christ who is worthy of our utmost best. Heb. 12:2, Col 3:23

It is only through His grace that we can accomplish these things. Personally, it is my prayer that I would be a good steward of the time, talents and the treasures that the Lord will lend me this year. It is also my desire to be faithful, in the little things as well as the big things leaving the results to the Lord, by His grace, committing myself in doing with my whole heart all the tasks the Lord puts on my plate.

During the trying times (and we’ll all have them), I desire to seek the face of God more than ever recognizing that the problem with my problems is not the problem! The only problem is, it takes away my focus from the one who has the solution and IS the solution – God! We get so fixed and focused upon our circumstances that we forget that there is a God who knows all things and has the solutions for everything that you will ever face! We ought to just come boldly unto the throne of Grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Let me challenge you in the year 2009 to be faithful to the Lord. May you set some spiritual goals – concrete and measurable. What gets scheduled gets done. Stop comparing yourself with other Christians and set your eyes upon the Lord Jesus Christ, He is our Supreme  Example and by His grace, may we finish this year strong for the Lord Jesus Christ!

Thank you Bro. Joshua for posting this message. May this site be a blessing to those who come by to peek. Indeedn, there is no greater joy and security in knowing that we have a God who is faithful and has chartered the course of His children’s journey on this earth and bring everything to pass according to His purpose. As we face the unknown but God-filtered challenges of 2009, may the Lord Jesus Christ find us faithful in living our lives worthy to be called His children.
