MORE THAN CONQUERORS – Ambassadors’ Theme

MORE THAN CONQUERORS
Romans 8:35-39
(Message given to the Ambassadors, July 2008)

One of my favorite chapters in the Bible is Romans 8. Someone has said that it is the Pinnacle of Scripture.

If Holy Scripture were a ring, And the Epistle to the Romans its precious stone, Chapter 8 would be the sparkling point of the jewel.

We enter this chapter with no condemnation, we close this chapter with no separation, and in between, all thing work together for good to those that love God!

1 Cor. 15:57

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

You don’t have to be defeated all the time, victim to circumstances, subject to bitterness. The Lord’s victory was won on Golgotha in blood and wounds, surely our crown will not be won without wrestling and overcoming. We must fight if we would reign, and through the same conflicts that brought the Savior His crown, we will obtain the everlasting victory

I. Our Position

A. In Christ – v1 – Saved.
2 Cor. 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
If you are saved today, there is no need to be defeated. You have eternal life. V19 you are saved by trusting Christ as Saviour.

B. Indwelt by the Holy Spirit – v9-10, v14
When you got saved, the Holy Spirit took residence into your heart.

1. We are to Walk in the Spirit.
Gal. 5:25, 16-17
Gal. 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

II. The Person of Jesus Christ – v37 “through Him”
Phil 4:13 – It is not positive thinking. Not Self confidence but God confidence.

A. Protection – v35, 31
One with God is the majority. If you have Jesus Christ, you have everything.Heb. 13:5-6
Ps. 37:25
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Psalm 23 – The Lord is my Shepherd.

B. The Love of God – v38-39
John 3:16, Eph 3:18-20, 1 John 4:9

III. The Purpose of God

A. In Prayer – v26-27, v32
The Holy Spirit helps us in our prayers.
We have a prayer partner in the Holy Spirit.
When you come to the point that you hurt so much that you can’t even get the words out. There is someone to help you bring those request to God!
We are to approach God with an attitude of “Lord, I don’t know what to pray for. Help me pray for what I ought to pray for. I want to do your will!”
God has a purpose. He is always working.
Isa. 65:24
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
Heb. 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

B. In Every Situation, Trial & Persecution – v28
The Lord is always working in our lives for a specific purpose. For His Good! Great Men of God where birthed through Trials!
Nobody ever were used by God who did not suffer any hardship at first.
“God never gives victory in bargain prices!”

1. To Conform us to The Image of Christ. V29
“foreknow” – to know before.
Note – All those He knew that would accept Him as Saviour, them He predestinated to be conformed to the image of His Son.
The reason why God sends us circumstances is that He wants to change us and to conform us to the image of Christ.
Trial borne in the Spirit of Christ will make a man more like Christ.
Eph. 2:10
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
This matter of sanctification is a daily process.

Conclusion: We are more than Conquerors! – We are not fighting for victory, but from the standpoint of Victory! It may seem hard today, but don’t throw in the towel. Ask the Holy Spirit for Strength. The only for you to lose is to quit.
Just keep on today! I don’t know what the devil is throwing at you today! – Just remember, we are on the winning side!
